1. View the list of items needed by our troops
2. Obtain those items and place them in a box. On the east coast, it is most cost effective to send parcel post, on the west, the flat rate $8.10 box works well but does not hold larger items. There are no weight limitations. You are only limited by what will fit in the box! Be sure to follow the guidelines on what NOT to send
3. Make sure you do not pack soaps and cleaners with snacks. We always place soaps and shampoo etc. in Zip Lock Bags
4. Make a Label addressed to:
Craig Miller or Current Administrator
USMI Freedom Rest
APO AE 09316
5. Obtain a form 2976A from the Post Office and fill it out according to the instructions found HERE. Be sure to read the notes at the bottom of the page.
6. Please write "OPERATION: A BIT OF HOME" somewhere on the package so they will know you have been briefed on what you can and cannot send, and the box is safe to open!
5. Obtain a form 2976A from the Post Office and fill it out.
6. Somewhere on the face of the box please print "Operation: A Bit of Home" This lets them know you are aware of what you can and cannot send and that the box should be safe to open.
Send us pictures and tell us what you did, We will put you on a web page!
This is our friendly smiling Wake Forest NC Post Office Employee Jim. He is a Vietnam Vet. and has been known to work through his lunch hour to get our boxes mailed. He is still smiling 60-70 boxes later when that days load is complete. We LIKE Jim
This is an average load getting ready to go to the post office!

7. An unpleasant truth - If a postal employee asks if there are liquids in the boxes, and you say yes, they will not send the box. We check all caps and enclose any liquids/gels in zip lock bags. We let our conscience be our guide on answering the question.
