The Orange California Chamber of Commerce published a center page spread on the needs of our troops in the September issue. Orange Rotary Club Memeber and Director of the Chamber enthusiastically supports Operatiom: A Bit of Home and is encouraging all of the Chamber Members in Orange to take an ACTIVE part in Supporting the troops.

This Organization of 500 volunteer workers scheduled a drive by drop-off on November 20th at the LDS Church, Newport Beach.
The Marine Corps Jr. ROTC of Orange High School, Orange CA assisted in accepting contributions, and soliciting monetary donations. The church has promised to have ongoing drives.

When the newly appointed chief heard about the work that the Orange Rotary Club was undertaking, he voiced a desire that his department also share. The story about FREEDOM REST will be posted on all bulletin boards throughout headquaters.
Boxes will be place throughout the building for uniformed officers and employees to contribute. A box will also be placed in the entrance areas so others may participate.
Teacher Jennifer Marsh was looking for a cause to support, and she found us! Ms. Marsh and her Wakefield High School math students have contributed 15+ boxes and cash donations to ship them in an ongoing program. Not only is Ms. Marsh teaching her students math, but also community service and pride in their citizenship.
Ingrid Ward of the Wake Forest office of the Environmental Protection Agency decided to support the Operation in a big way and published an article about us in her work newsletter. She set up boxes and soon donations came pouring in. Ingrids efforts in design and production of labels, handouts, and her collecting abilities have been a big benefit for Operation: A Bit of Home.
When Ken Meyer sent an E-mail to Bill Lumaye of WPTF AM 680 in Raleigh, little did he know of the great things to come. Bill invited Ken to chat on his afternoon drive time show and at 3:10pm on Vetrans Day, Bill and Ken opened the floodgates. Bills positive support and Kens passion for supplying the troops combined to deliver a message of support for our men and women overseas.

The New York Gang Comes through again!
Eastern Director for Operation: A Bit of Home Michael LoCasio and the gang of volunteers from Concept Air Conditioning/ Offset Services came through again! On November 26th they sponsored a fund raising Gala at St. Stans Rectory in Queens, NY. Click Here to see pictures of the event.

The Cary NC Post Office Delivers!!
The Health and Welfare Committee of the Cary Post Office really Delivered. Checks totaling nearly $550.00 were collected by the committee and sent to Operation: A Bit of Home. Co-Chairpersons M. The Wake Forest Rolesville FFA Helps Us GROW!
Vice-President Meghan Pearce, students and Advisors at Wake Forest Rolesville High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) invited founders Ken & Angel to address their club on February 8th. They gave a warm welcome to them, and Ken addressed the group on the history, goals, and needs of the organization. Angel then answered the students questions about what being a female soldier in Iraq was like. The questions were well thought out, inquisitive, and positive. The group immediately started brainstorming ideas for finding donations and funds to send needed items to the troops and Freedom Rest. This could be the start of something BIG!!!
Rolesville's Anzio's Pizza Feeds the Boy Scouts
Ms. Tanya Nalikovsky and the students of Walkertown Middle School near Winston Salem NC donated a great big box of assorted gifts for the troops. Tanya's dad Mark drove it all to the Rolesville Donation Box and dropped it in. Thanks to Tanya, Mark, and the students at Walkertown who donated.

When the Boy Scouts came to help pack 200 boxes at OABOH, We had to feed them of course. ANZIOS PIZZA stepped in and donated a few Pies to feed the hungry Scouts. Thanks ANZIOS, and the pizza was GREAT

Anzios Really Delivers!!!!
Members of the Salem College Chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society collected needed items for "Operation: A Bit of Home" to send to the troops overseas. Salem College is an all female college located in Winston-Salem North Carolina. Students, Faculty and Staff were all encouraged to drop off the needed items and sign cards for the soldiers. They wanted to do all they could to help, and collected a large box full of items. On behalf of the students at Salem College, Brandi Carter and the members of ODK wish all the soldiers serving our nation a very Merry Christmas and a safe New Year.
The Marine Corps Jr. ROTC of Orange High School, Orange CA, led by Colonel J. Rutenberg assisted in accepting contributions, and soliciting monetary donations at a drive by drop-off on November 20th at the LDS Church at 801 Dover Drive in Newport Beach, CA. 20 Cadets participated. Col. Rutenberg was the personal helicopter pilot to President Reagan.
The Cadets from the Army Jr, ROTC at J.F. Web High school have come through again. Led by SSGT. Miller, the cadets have participated in supply and fund raising drives in Oxford NC. on 2 occasions (so far). On their first outing, the cadets raised 1,500 lbs. of needed supplies and $700.00 in donations. the second time, the cadets raised a whopping $2,400.00.
This truckload of supplies for the Operation was a group effort by; Phillip, Missie & Bailie Robertson of Wendell, NC, Jan & Jimmy Parker of Wendell, NC, Jimmy & Tammy Coggins of Raleigh, NC, Eddie and Karen Albertson of Raleigh, NC, and the Raleigh Professional Firefighters Association.

Signs and More, Wake Forest NC
Chris and his team at Signs and More in Wake Forest NC helped our Eagle Scout Jeremy make the signage for our new box. Even though they were crazy busy, they came through with a wonderful implementation of Kens design
Andre Brown, who races a Super Stock Pontiac Grand Prix shows his support for our troops and Operation: A Bit of Home. Andre was named Rookie Driver of the year in 2004 and is a well known name at Southern National Speedway!
Ms. Crystal M. Smith, 4-H Youth Development Agent stands next to some of the donations delivered to OABOH. The 4-H Clubs of Durham, Orange, Wake, Wilson, Johnston, Edgecomb, Halifax, Franklin, Warren, Nash, Granville, and Person Counties got together to send donations to the troops. Ms. Smith delivered them and stayed to ask lots of questions about OABOH. Ms. Smith is the 4-H Youth Development Agent at the NC Cooperative Extension-Franklin County Center
American Legion Post 148 in Wendell is a drop off site for North Carolina. Doug Lute, Al White, and the Legionnaires there are excited about working with OABOH in sending needed items to the troops. To get directions, click here
The Raleigh Moose Lodge #1318 has joined with OABOH in a big way. They pass a bucket to get donations for shipping at all their events and functions. In their front lobby there is a patriotic barrel that gets filled with needed items on a regular basis. Various groups at the lodge pack and ship the donations. Being on a main highway, they use their sign panel to show passersby that they support our troops
